Da Parish Pics

In this area, we know that if someone refers to "da parish" (which, being translated, means "the parish"), they mean St. Bernard Parish, and often, they just mean Chalmette. Well, residents of "da parish" won't be going home anytime soon. A friend of my sister's sent these pictures, and I think they tell their own story.

Slidell has areas that approach this, but they do not equal this degree of devastation. The only thing that comes close is Lakeshore Drive (Rat's Nest Road) and Carr Drive. The only thing you see now, in the place of all the homes on the water are empty stilts. I hope to have some shots of that area after this weekend.

Please remember to pray for the victims of Katrina. There's a long haul ahead to rebuild what was lost. Pray that our church is able to comfort the fainthearted and strenghthen the weak. (1 Thessalonians 5:14) Pray also that we bring the light of God's Word into the darkness that surrounds such a great natural disaster as this.
